Daidoji Uji
On this model, I used a technique of simply drybrushing all the color
over a black wash/white primer base. |
 |
Doji Yosai
On this model I experimented, with limited success, with patterns on
clothing. |
 |
Doji Kuwanen
I really think the sculptor did a great job with this model. Too
bad he's so small when compared to the rest of the models in the line. |
 |
Kakita Toshimoko
My favorite thing about this model is the crane mon on his garment.
This is also one of the first models I painted eyes on. |
 |
Doji Kuwanan (Alternate)
Matsu Gohei from the basic set. I trimmed down the tripod, the
moustache, and the protruding horn on the helm, and painted him blue.
He looks okay in front of the Iron Warrirors. |
 |
Doji Hoturi
Its too bad I almost never get to play with him. I like this model
a lot. |

Standard Bearer
Doji House Guard from Crane Army Expansion
I printed the banner out on a color inkjet printer, cut it to shape,
and folded it over the pole which I made from piano wire and thread.
As the glue was drying, I slid the layers of the banner just slightly out
of alignment to create the waving effect.
I use this model to represent Doji Kuwanen with the Imperial Standard
since he's the only banner-bearing figure I have right now. |

Crane Courtier
Isawa Osugi from Phoenix Personalities #3 blister. As if the fact
that she is stamped "CN xx - Courtier" on the bottom isn't enough, her
headpiece is shaped like a crane. Who are they trying to kid?
This was an experiment in a couple techniques for me. First, the
robe blends from light lavender on top to deep blue on the bottom, and
blending was a new technique for me. Second, this was my first real
attempt to paint on detail, on a large scale, which was not sculpted into
the metal.
I used her as a Kakita Shura before I acquired the appropriate model. |
 |
Doji Rimaki (Dismounted)
Shiba Tsukune from the basic set. Tsukune is my favorite model
in the game, and Rimaki is one of my favorite personalities. The
only glory 4 crane with 2 strikes, she's respectable even without her horse.
I am working on a slightly more ambitions mounted conversion of the same
model. |

Daidoki Sonoko
Medium Infantry w/ Yari from Medium Infantry blister. I tried
to paint this figure in a scheme that would be unmistakibly crane, yet
at the same time provide low-visiblity look for those covert operations
the Daidoji are so fond of. I flocked his helmet, though I'm not
sure how I feel about how that came out. I also patterned his clothing
but I'm also dissapointed by that. Still, the medium and light infantry
are great figs. I am still trying to figure out how I will distinguish
Sonoko from the rest of my Harriers. |
