Battle 3: Phoenix vs. Dragon
This was a strange battle. Playing Pheonix, I took on two players,
one who was brand new to the game. In terms of Koku, both armies
were equal; however the Dragons had the advantage of having two turns at
the Hand of Fate, as well as having two tactical hands and two generals
in the battle (since we considered each Dragon player's unit to be a seperate
army).
The memorable factors of this battle were:
-
The new player had a great deal of difficulty with the movement, and his
unit was basically out of the game while tried to maneuver it through a
forest and over a hill. This was very unfortunate, as that unit would
have changed the course of the game most likely.
-
The Hurricaine Initiates and the Tsunami
Leigion were both fun units to play with. See my notes on them
on my Units and Tactics page.
-
The inablity to coordinate tactics between two players proved more of a
disadvantage to the Dragon players than the advantage of having two tactical
hands on one side.
-
The Dragons were able eventually to whittle my plucky little Tsunami Leigon
down to nothing, though by the time the Tsunami Leigon was destroyed, the
Dragons were decimated, and the Hurricaine Initiates were fresh... and
within range. That's when we stopped the game.
The 'Little Turtle' rocks. I've been a loyal Crane player ever
since I bought my first Imperial edition Crane deck for the CCG however
many years ago that was (its still the only clan sword I own), but I'm
afraid Shiba Tsukune is hands down my favorite personality in the game.
