Battle 2: Crane vs. Crab
This was a second test battle. This time, my opponent, the Crab,
built his own army, while I used the same army from the first battle.
I was sure the Crab would take the day because he had a 'built' army, and
I had a test army thrown together to fit the figures I happened to
have on hand.
Memorable points of the battle::
-
Though the Crab had a superior army, they still failed to take advantage
of terrain and throughtout the entire game they were either bogged down
in Woods or picked apart by the Crane Archers.
-
The other point I remeber clearly is the spectacular engagement where the
Crab
Heavy Elite engaged the Crane Elite Archers full on, and even though
they were severely outmatched, the Archers managed to hold out long enough
in close combat to play Anvil to the Iron Warriors' Hammer; the Iron Warriors
wheeled in behind the Crabs and engaged them in the rear.
Lessons Learned:
-
Terrain matters
It is not enough to have a superior force; you must also use it effectively.
The crabs were unable to coordinate the movement of their units, and even
though they had more heavy units than the Crane, the Crane Iron Warriors
were able to defeat them all, one at a time, with support from the Archers.
