ROLLER/PIN GAUGING SYSTEM

The roller pin gauging system provides high volume precision roller and pin manufacturers with high speed ultra precise part measuring and sorting. Industrial ruggedized system modules and components coupled with a continual parts feeding system, result in a complete 100% turnkey automated gauging system capable of functioning within any production floor environment. Application software provides the user with full control over gauging operations by utilizing the three front panel push buttons.

The system hardware consists of a part feeding system, a measuring/sorting fixture and an electronic control/measuring platform. The part feeding system consists of a vibratory bowl fed by a supply hopper. Features include presorting of parts based on diameter and length for mixed parts separation. The measuring/sorting fixture accepts parts from the feeding system by indexing a part carrying disk. The part is transported between a precision stationary anvil and a reed activated measuring probe. Based upon preset sorting criteria, the parts are gated into one of seven bins on succeeding carrier disk indexes An industrially hardened IBM PC compatible processing platform equipped with a flat panel LCD VGA user display and an alpha numeric keyboard, make up the electronic control/measuring components. Drop in precision tooling allows for rapid change over to accommodate a broad range of part diameters and lengths. The user friendly application software is menu driven and functions in three operational modes:

In operation, measurements are stored to a file at preset intervals for off line statistical analysis. A part count for each bin is continuously monitored and the operation is halted when a preset bin count is reached. A Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) and proprietary signal processing provides superior ultra precise measuring at rapid cycle rates. Measurements of four parts per second are made to a resolution of .000001” with an accuracy of .000004”.
