RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER

( or Randolphe )

How many of you have heard and enjoyed the song, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, written by Johnny Marks? How many of you have know a Rudolph (let’s call him Randolph) throughout your youth or adulthood? With the coming of this Christmas season, I ask you to listen to this song, with a new set of eyes.

Randolph, the red nosed Christian, had a very dirty nose,

and if you ever saw him, you would even say he’s gross.

All of his friends and neighbors, used to laugh and call him names.

They wouldn’t let poor Randolph, join in any Christian games.

Then one snowy Christmas eve, Jesus came to say,

Randolph with your light so bright, won’t you guide my flock tonight?

Then how the Christians loved him, and they shouted out with glee,

Randolph the Red-nosed Christian, won’t you come and pray with me.

p.s. Before you turn your back on someone, make sure they are not a chosen one of Christ. amen

Most everyone loves the Christmas season because of the love that seems to flow around the holiday, and are both glad and saddened to see it end. If only we could extend that feeling of peace and good will throughout the year. Why don’t you? Christmas is love, peace goodwill and all the things which make our life happier if even for a short time. Why? Look around you. Find some beauty amid all you see. It may be that dirty faced stranger that is looking for work to do so he may buy a meal, for himself or his family. It may be your neighbor who never smiles because he or she may have lost a loved one, and feels lost themself. It may be a shy person who is afraid of being rebuffed so therefor never puts a hand out first. Everybody on this earth has been given a gift or talent to share. A rich person may have money that he can share with those less fortunate. Many have time on their hands that they can share with others that are alone. Our convelesance homes are full of them. No relatives or friends to talk with, and share their joy or sorrow. Some have a gift of housecleaning to share with someone that is not lazy, they just do not know how. Some know how to cook or bake and can share their goodies and their knowledge. You men can help your neighbor with his yard or small chores or help your wives with the children. You can go to a soup kitchen and offer even one day to help others. Help out at your church, where even the smallest task takes time and money that could be put to better use. Mothers, who are at home with your children, reach out to your neighbor and offer to watch her kids for awhile, to go to a store alone, have a long hot bath, read a book or whatever turns her on. Who knows, she may offer to do the same for you one day. You should always sow, and then you can reap.

The list is endless. I believe in helping others to help themselves, not doing it all for them, although at times it is needed. By sharing ourselves with others, we become part of a larger family, not bound by blood, but by love and seeking a better world, for us and for others.. It is really up to us. If just one touches another, think of what we can do. Don’t get blue after Christmas, get going. Look up that old friend, check on where you can volunteer, make that call you have been putting off, and most of all no matter what the reason, forgive all who have affended you. It may make no difference to them, but I guarantee you will feel what you have been missing. Life is too short to judge one another.Give freely of whatever you may have to offer, Someone else is in need of it. Love

Have a Joyous Christmas
