A Message of Faith/Prayer
G  L  O  R  I  A     Sept.28,1985

Dear Father.

Today I am sitting facing the back yard, looking through the glass doors. My former fear of storms is gone. I have peace within me as I gaze out upon your power. I'm listening to the radio about the devastation of property hitting the state of Connecticut and yet, at this time, only 2 deaths have been reported.

Lord, I feel your power, I feel your love, I feel your mercy. I gaze at the trees, and see them bend almost impossible degrees, first one way then the other. A few have broken, but most of them are bouncing back. The seemingly small weak ones are holding their own with the seemingly strong ones. Throughout it all dear Lord, I see your hand. It is by your choice which ones will be broken or torn up by the roots. Oh Lord, the fury and might of the storm somehow is only a small portion of your wrath to come. I thank you dear Lord for loving me and my family. I thank you for loving your people. I only pray that many will turn back to you and see in this storm, your mighty mercy along with your power. To have no fear seems impossible for me and yet here I sit. It is only because of You that we are. My heart is sore for all your children who will not yet accept you because of this world of the wise. I do worry about those who don't yet know of your love and protection and give the credit to all but You.

The sky is still dark, omoninus with your power and might. They say the eye is passing over at 2:00 pm but yet the winds persist. How many will turn to you before the 2nd half hits?

It is truly amazing dear Lord, the grass is beaten down, but still reaches out and up for You. The trees bend and sway first this way and then that way, and then come back to attention, all reaching upward. Some have lost leaves, others branches, some have keeled over by the roots but still life surges. This earth is yours Lord and everything in it, on it and under it belongs to You.

I somehow wonder where are all the birds at a time like this. Have they enough sense to take refuge? Your People, dear Lord, haven't they enough sense to take refuge in your son Jesus? I see the wind as the power and might of the Holy Spirit. The apostles heard a sound as the mighty rushing of the wind.....

A man just announced that the eye is over New Britain and looks like a big Halo.
Isn't that something?
