A Conversation with Karen & Bill
Our Home & Community
Bill: We live in a small New England town in a safe, quiet semi-rural community.  Our town is known for its excellent school system.  There are many activities, especially for children, available through the town community center and the library; both are within a mile of our home.
Our home is located in a park-like setting - over 2 acres with open grassy areas bordered by a quiet lake and surrounded by trees on the outskirts for privacy.  We are frequently outside canoeing, kayaking, swimming or simply gazing out over the water while we picnic in our yard. We love to experience all the seasons here, although the winter does make us miss the Hawaiian sun.  We have plenty of room for a swing set and areas for children to play sports and games in the yard.

Our yard also provides us with a small-animal wildlife sanctuary, where we have geese, ducks, chipmunks, rabbits, squirrels, turtles, an occasional pheasant and an abundance of beautiful birds.  It is so interesting to see the animals and how they interact in nature.  We have several bird feeders and enjoy observing birds that we never knew existed in this area. We have come to realize the importance of occasionally slowing down to appreciate our surroundings.

Karen: And if the outside wildlife is not enough, we have two adorable indoor cats (or do they have us?).  Kimo, our male tabby cat who looks like Morris and acts like Garfield, is nothing but a big purring machine - full of goodness.  Missa, is our dainty female kitty; she is very good-natured and loves to play.  We hope someday (when our future children are school-aged) to add a dog to our pet household, possibly a Golden or Chocolate Labrador Retriever.
