A Conversation with Karen & Bill

Karen: One would think that we would have to sacrifice our family time in order for Bill to be successful on the job, but he has been able to do well at work and still only work a normal workday. He works no more than 45 hours a week at most (unlike the Navy!). I'm very proud of his professional achievements and his ability to balance work and home life.

Personally, I admire Bill's energetic, responsible, and dedicated personality. These attributes sure come in handy, too, with household and yard maintenance chores. I appreciate him pitching in from time to time and helping with the housekeeping tasks like washing clothes, dishes, cooking and cleaning. His dedicated work ethic hasn't hindered Bill in his willingness to stop and take a break for some good family quality time. We try to have regularly scheduled events to make sure we don't get caught up in the day to day routines and forget the fun parts of living. Having picnics in the yard or at a park, going for special walks, and watching movies are regular routines that give us relaxed quality time together. We also frequently take day trips and vacation. We look forward to adding some excitement to our routines with children, where we would play sports, go to the zoo, playgrounds, museums, parks, community events and any other fun children's activities that we can find.

Bill: God has certainly been involved in the details of our lives and allowed us to find a balance between work and family life. It took some serious planning and patience to see our plan unfold, but now we are truly ready to have our family grow.

Karen: I look forward to my new job as a stay at home mom, devoting my time and energy to nurturing a child's growth. I know this will be challenging, but I am sure it will be very rewarding too. Bill and I sincerely believe that a child should be surrounded with a parent's unconditional love for the first 6 years of their life. These years are such a critical time in a child's development and providing that special attention and love is essential. We were both very fortunate that our mothers were able to spend those years at home with us. Our first and foremost goal is to create a loving family life that nourishes growth and provides acceptance and love unconditionally.
