Although many "transforming robots" have been released over the years, the only major competition Transformers had were Tonka's GoBots, which used molds from Japan's Machine Robo line. While overshadowed these days by our favorite "robots in disguise", there are still a few loyal GoBot fans who remember teaming the Autobots with the Friendly Guardians against the Decepticons and Enemy Renegade GoBots.
Sadily, there aren't enough websites dedicated to these little guys; certainly not compared to Transfan sites. Hopefully this Special GoBot section will help change all that. I'm starting small, but I hope this mini-site reaches the levels of a typical Transfan site and helps bring the GoBot fandom together as the Transfandom has done. So, my fellow GoFans, this project's for YOU!
I really don't have a lot of content...yet! So far I've only scanned the first two comics from GoBots Magazine "The Gun of Doom" and Scooter's Mighty Magnet. And for those of you who complain about the tv show, the comics are a lot worse, but the GoBots Magazine, like many others made during the 80's based on a successful cartoon, was written for little kids. However, outside of the minicomic that came with Zod, the Mag is the only place for official GoBot comics in the US. Thanks to Kyle Williamson for his advice on this section.
I hope to have more stuff, including a GoBots Universe, in the style of Marvel's classic Transformers Universe, but for the time being, I'll start with this. I'd also appreciate any donations from you GoFans. No, not money (although, I wouldn't mind some--hehheh), but if you saved any package art or have a good copy of the "Escape To Planet Earth" minicomic (I do know someone I can ask--my copy's in lousy shape), or if you have a GoBot site or page you want to add to a future link section at The GoBot Zone, then send me an e-mail and put [GoBot Zone] in the subject header. You will receive credit for all additions, but please ask before you send me anything. I don't want to wait forever downloading an unwanted attachment. Thank you.
