OMNI SWIMMING
FAQ
In case you
missed the answer while browsing our lovely homepage or you cheated and came
here first, we have come up with some frequently asked questions and answers for
your convenience.
Q: Is my child ready for OMNI?
A: If you child
can swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) without assistance, he/she is
ready. 25 yards is ¼ of a football
field (not including end zones).
Q:
Does my child have to swim meets? Should my child do meets?
A: Although we
are a competitive program, swimmers under the age of 8 have the choice of
swimming meets. All other age groups
are expected to at least try meets. We
find that most swimmers over the age of 9 opt to swim in meets and about 90% of
our swimmers do.
Q: Is
my child good enough for meets?
A: USA swimming
provides meets for swimmers of all ability levels. All swimmers regardless of ability can swim in meets.
Q:
What type of fundraiser does OMNI participate in, if any?
A: We do two
fundraisers a year in the form of hosting meets. We traditionally host two summer meets a year. We expect all parents to help out in one way
or another. We have a meet committee
that sets up work assignments for each parent.
These meets generate revenue for the club, which help keep costs down.
Q:
What group is my child in?
A: For returning
members any change in training group will be accompanied by a letter and/or a
verbal notification. For new members an
informal tryout will take place and then your child will be assigned a training
group.
Q:
When does the summer season usually begin?
A: We
traditionally start the summer season the first Monday in April with practice
at the winter practice time. From May
to July we train in the upstairs long course pool from 5-7p.
Q:
When do I pay for meets, training?
A: Bills are
given out in a timely fashion though out the season. So until you get a bill, do not worry about meet fees. The dates training fee installments are due
are written on the OMNI registration form, but at least 25% plus USA
registration fees are due at sign up.
