Duties as defined by the by-laws:

  • has charge of all church funds and all disbursements following authorization from the Business Committee

  • presents a complete itemized report of the treasurer's accounts at the annual meeting

  • in conjunction with the Business Committee, prepares the annual budget

How that is accomplished: write checks for salaries, utilities, committee expenditures, and benevolence; reconcile accounts each month; transfer funds from savings to checking to meet disbursement needs; monitor compliance with local state and federal laws related to finances; maintain accounting records including monthly reports to Council; occasional consultation with investment company representative.

Meetings: monthly Council meetings; occasional Business Committee meetings

Auditors

Duties as defined by the by-laws:

  • audit the accounts of the treasurer and make a report of the same at the annual meeting


Board of Christian Education

Duties as defined by the by-laws:

  • responsible for the planning and administration of Christian Education in the church at all age levels

  • advises in the general management of the church school

  • with the Director of Christian Education, plans the curriculum of the school and appoints teachers

How that is accomplished: establish church school policy, hands-on support for church school, nursery and activity time, sponsor intergenerational activities, sponsor adult learning activities, participate in whole church events and fundraisers, sponsor whole church events and fundraisers, make recommendations for church school curriculum, and review proposals brought to Christian Education by other boards and committees.  Cooperative efforts with other boards include Mission, Deacons (for annual evaluation of Director) and Business Committee (for general maintenance of church school area.)

Members should have an interest in spiritual development of children and adults and an interest (not necessarily experience) in education.

Meetings: monthly (1 - 2 hours)



Board of Deacons

Duties as defined by the by-laws:

  • cooperates with the pastoral staff in ministering to the spiritual needs of the church and community

  • keeps the pastoral staff informed of the sick, needy and bereaved of the parish and assist in welcoming the stranger

  • approves the order of worship, assists in the worship services and arranges special services as needed

  • provides for the supply of the pulpit in case of the pastor's absence

  • assists the pastor in the preparing and serving communion and is  responsible for the care of the communion ware

  • with the pastor, meets with applicants for church membership to
