Everyone needs a way to express their faith and their sense of calling. We need to be able to use our gifts in ministry with others. The church has tasks to be done and decisions to be made. Serving on a board, committee or as an officer can fill personal needs as well as those of the church. Officers Council Chair Duties as defined by the by-laws:
How that is accomplished: plan Council and congregational meetings, keep meetings running smoothly, oversee activities and help assess the church's program, see that official decisions are carried out, be a sounding board for members and pastoral staff, represent the church at association and conference meetings in the absence of the delegates, make the denomination aware of our church's points of view (and vice versa.) How that is accomplished: take minutes to record the activities of the church for the official record, telling who, what, when, where and, if possible, why; see that these records are stored for future reference; receive, send and file official correspondence; sign official church documents; complete annual reports of the conference and the UCC Yearbook. How that is accomplished: receive and count money, deposit money in the bank, make a monthly report to the Council of all receipts, send a report to each member about their annual contributions, provide information to the stewardship committee. Meetings: monthly Council meetings Treasurer |
