Good Friday, Bad Golf
See below for more details

Another year,
2008, is in the books.  On March 21st we set another first for GFBG.  It wasn't the coldest;  It wasn't the hottest;  It wasn't the earliest GFBG;  It wasn't the least or most players;  ..... IT WAS THE WINDIEST!!  Gust were frequent and strong, blowing to at least 45mph.

I had time to reflect on the day, after working in the ER the next day for 14hrs (very bad idea).  Despite the cold, wind and wet course, all but 2 teams ignored their natural instincts and showed up.  We had 84 golfers in total.  This dedication to our friends memory goes a long way.   This is why we play each year.  I called Charlie that morning and asked if were still going to have the tournament in this weather, and he said " Of course, Gary and Kenny would have still played".  He was right for a change.

As far as the golf, there were no surprises when you thought about it.  Yes, Charlie, Howard, Pat and Tommy did win low gross.  But if you think about it.....What team could stand in the gusting wind and not be, even slightly, moved.  These men / golfers have trained in the kitchen for years for such an occasion.  On one of the strongest gusts, Pat could be heard holes away, saying "Blow me harder".  Their layers of insulation made them impervious to the cold, as seals in the Pacific Ocean.  The ice that would be forming other's veins under the pressure and cold were thwarted by the alcohol, they so cleverly consumed, before, during and after the round.  We commend them in there dedication and efforts, and congratulate them on their win.

Again, we would like to thank all our friends for coming and making our annual event successful.  See you April 10, 2009 (Good Friday)
